این مطالعه به بررسی مسألۀ خشونتِ مبتنی بر جنسیت علیه مردان و این‌که آیا قوانین و مقررات به‌طور برابر از آن‌ها محافظت می‌کند، پرداخته است. تمرکز آن بر یافته‌های پژوهشی‌یی‌است که در منطقۀ بیتی، در حومۀ متاتا انجام شده و هدف آن بهبود مداخلات مددکاری اجتماعی در برخورد با موارد خشونت مبتنی بر جنسیت، بدون توجه به جنسیت مراجعان است. این پژوهش ادبیات مربوط به خشونت علیه مردان را خلاصه کرده و بررسی می‌کند که چه‌گونه مفهوم خشونت مبتنی بر جنسیت علیه مردان در عمل اجرا می‌شود؛ هم‌چنین تأملاتی در مورد تجربۀ مردان از خشونت و نیاز به بهبود مداخلات مددکاری اجتماعی ارائه می‌دهد. این تحقیق با استفاده از روش نمونه‌گیری گلوله‌برفی و روش‌های کیفی، با ۱۲ شرکت‌کنندۀ منتخب انجام شد. داده‌ها از طریق مصاحبه‌های نیمه‌ساختاریافته جمع‌آوری شده و با استفاده از تحلیل محتوای موضوعی تحلیل گردید.
